- The EU Election Observation Mission (EOM) has pulled out a some of its observers in the repeat election onThursday, October 26.
- EU has cited security concerns and lack of political goodwill as some of the reasons the decision was made.
- The EOM has now indicated it will only focus on systemic issues, including transmission of results and availability of relevant forms such as 34A and B.
"We have assessed the safety of our observers considering the extreme tension, disruptions of polling preparations and strong criticism that has been made of the international community. Based on this, we have had to reconsider the extent to which we can observe across the country," read the statement in part.
