KENYA - OMIERI THE PYTHON -JE UTAENDA KUMUONA OMIERI???

Legendary Omieri the Giant python, set for Public Exhibition
Nyakach residents claimed its absence had brought them misfortune.
-The legend of Omieri still lives!
Omieri, the giant python which died in 1989, be displayed to the general public at the Snake Park in Nairobi.- Luo believe the python is a reincarnation of a woman named Omieri “who now returns as a serpent, bringing fertility to communities and to individual women to whom she appears.”
-Omieri was thus said to bring blessings, like rain during drought. And so when it appeared in a Nyakach village, residents gifted it their goats, chicken and ugali, as pythons rarely move when hatching.-The spectacle attracted local and international tourists, forcing villagers to clear bushes to show if off, and burning Omieri in the process. It was transported to the Nairobi National Park for treatment. The reptile was 15-foot long and weighed at least 75kg, and has been preserved at the National Museums of Kenya labs for over 30 years now. Residents of Nyakach, where the snake was found said its presence was a “sign of good things to come.”
