There was panic at the Likoni channel when police shot in the air to control impatient commuters scrambling for ferries.
-Commuters had forcefully opened the waiting bay gate, and poured into a waiting ferry, causing chaos at the channel.
A number of students are said to have been injured as they scampered for safety after the shots were fired.
-Mv Likoni had failed to take off from the ramp, as commuters had filled it to capacity, forcing them to move to another one which had just docked on the mainland.
