Hundreds Attend Diani Beach Festival-Security has been beefed up in Kwale County during the Diani Beach Festival (DBF) which kicks off Saturday and ends January 2, 2018.-The festival is taking place at Alliance Safari Beach Hotel.-The festival is an event which seeks to showcase Diani as a holiday destination in a bid to attract tourists from around the world.
It will be officially launched by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala.

-The National Super Alliance (NASA) has called off the controversial ‘swearing in’ of opposition leader Raila Odinga that was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 12.-In a press conference at Okoa Kenya offices, NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi on Sunday evening said the opposition would announce a new date for the swearing-in and launch of the people’s assembly later.- “We shall be announcing the new dates of both the swearing in ceremony and the launch of the People’s Assembly as well as a more vigorous and prolonged resistance in the coming days”.
7 musicians killed in Nakuru-Eldoret highway accident.-Seven musicians from the popular Kenene international band, a well known Kalenjin music group, died on Saturday night in a grisly road accident at Maraba near Total along Nakuru-Eldoret highway.The seven, five men and two women, perished after a Toyota Probox they were travelling in collided head on with truck heading to Nakuru at around 7.30pm. The probox was headed to Hill tea, Timboroa.-Popular singer Weldon Cheruiyot died in the accident.

Diarrhoea Outbreak Hits Isiolo County-About 500 people living along Ewaso Ng’iro River settlements in Isiolo County have been affected by a diarrhoeal disease outbreak in the last two months.County Public Health officer Guracha Sarite said the outbreak has affected vulnerable children under five years and women in several areas of Merti, Garbatulla and Oldonyiro since September.-Water sources have been contaminated by faecal matter due to flooding in areas where open defecation is practiced by the communities.
School Heads Warned Over Class Repetition.-Headteachers have been ordered to ensure pupils do not repeat classes.-Teachers Service Commission chairperson Lydia Nzomo said although teachers have been put on notice over class repetition some children are still made to repeat classes.“A child should complete one class and go to the next. We must offer quality education for all our children,” Dr Nzomo said.Lydia Nzomo says it is the mandate of the headteachers to ensure pupils do not repeat classes.-NO DEMOTION“You won’t be demoted from a head teacher to a classroom teacher, we have protected you from all that, just do your work, ” Dr Nzomo said.
