BREAKING NEWS: IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe resigns

- IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe has resigned saying the electoral commission “in its current state can surely not guarantee a credible election on 26 October 2017.”
- In her resignation letter, Dr Akombe says the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is under siege and at the heart of the ongoing political crisis.
- According to Akombe, the repeat presidential poll set for October 26 should be postponed in light of the ongoing political turmoil and disagreements among the stakeholders.
- Dr Akombe sent the statement from New York, where she was based, working for the UN, before she took the job at the electoral commission.
